Lizzie Currie

Lizzie is an avid athlete and has completed 3 marathons (London, New York and Florence),  and has achieved her sub 3.30 goal.  She completed her first triathlon, Windsor, UK, in 2011 and went on to race in both Olympic distance and Half IronMan distance races around Europe.  She finished 3rd in her age group at the Lanzarote triathlon 2013, 3rd in her age group at the English National Championships in 2014 and won her age group at the Mallorca Triathlon Balaeric Championships 2014.  She went on to compete for Great Britain at the 2014 ITU World Triathlon Championships age group 40-44 in Edmonton, Canada where she placed 3rd GB athlete and 17th overall.  She has qualified to represent Team GB at the European Triathlon Championships in Geneva 2015 and the World Triathlon Championships in Chigaco in late 2015 and looks forward to preparing for these events after the RAAM.

Cycling is her passion and she enjoys taking part in sportives around the UK as well as trips in Europe.  Last autumn she completed an epic ride from Evian in Switzerland to Nice in France taking in over 20,000m of climbing through the Alps including Col de Madeleine, Col du Glandon and Alpe d'Huez all in one day.  Coming from Yorkshire, she is most at home riding up and down the steep hills of the Yorkshire dales with her husband and son at her side.  These days are hard to beat.

When she is not training Lizzie is a full time mother of 3 fantastic children, Millie, Theo (the cyclist) and Eliza.  She teaches lacrosse and runs a lacrosse club for 11-18 year olds in London.  She escapes to the Alps whenever she can to ski in the winter and walk in the summer with her family.
She is looking forward to taking on what will be by far the greatest endurance challenge of her career and is proud to be part of the entire Twisted Swisster crew. 3000 miles is a really long way............
